Founded in 1996, Dan and Justin Hogan have seen many changes around Smith Lake. They built their first dock together as a father-son project after not being able to find exactly what they were looking for. Their second dock was for their neighbor and so it began.

Today, Free State Boat Docks builds more docks on Smith Lake than ALL other competitors combined. If Alabama Power Shorelines approves, we will build it and we build it T O U G H. We have more than 25 years experience building docks on Smith Lake and have a proven track record of continuing to evolve our design and process to follow the growth pattern of the lake. Our docks are built with galvanized steel using true truss construction, making them one piece.
